Grace period and downgrade

How the grace period works

If a subscription payment fails (card declined, insufficient funds, card expired), tikento does not disable the account instantly. Instead, a three-stage process begins that gives you 10 days to resolve the issue.

Stages of non-payment

Past_due status (days 1--3)

Immediately after a failed charge, the account transitions to past_due status.

What happens:

  • The system performs 3 automatic charge attempts at 24-hour intervals
  • All plan features continue to work without restrictions
  • You receive a notification via email and Telegram about the failed payment

At this stage, simply ensure the card has sufficient funds or update the card details. On a successful charge, the account status returns to normal.

Grace status (days 4--10)

If all 3 charge attempts fail, the account transitions to grace status for 7 days.

What happens:

  • Follow-up reminders are sent via email and Telegram
  • A banner is displayed in the dashboard asking to update the payment method
  • Some features are restricted: you cannot create new events or invite new team members
  • Existing events and registrations continue to work

Automatic downgrade (day 11+)

If payment is not received within 10 days, the account automatically transitions to the Free plan.

What happens on downgrade

Data is never deleted

This is a key tikento principle. On downgrade, data is not erased -- it is marked as archived.

Objects exceeding Free plan limits receive the archived_due_to_downgrade status:

ResourceFree limitWhat happens to excess
Concurrent events5Remaining are archived (by creation date, newest first)
Participants per event100Participants beyond 100 cannot be edited
Form fields10Fields beyond 10 are hidden from the form
Team members3Remaining lose access to the dashboard
Emails per month500Broadcasts beyond the limit are not sent

What remains accessible

Even after downgrade, you can:

  • View all data (including archived objects)
  • Export data to CSV, XLSX, or JSON without restrictions
  • Work with events and participants within Free plan limits
  • Accept payments (with 4% + 20 RUB commission)

What is restricted

  • Creating events beyond the Free plan limit
  • Access to paid plan features (BYOD acquiring, custom domain, badges, SMS, etc.)
  • "Powered by tikento" watermark returns on widgets and forms

Restoring a plan

When repaying a subscription (returning to Pro, Business, or Enterprise):

  1. All archived objects with archived_due_to_downgrade status are automatically restored.
  2. Plan features are activated immediately.
  3. Team members regain access.
  4. The watermark is removed.

You do not need to recreate events or re-invite your team.

How to update the payment method

  1. Go to Settings -> Billing.
  2. Click "Update payment method".
  3. Enter the new card details.
  4. The system will immediately attempt to charge the outstanding balance.

On a successful charge, restrictions are lifted immediately, regardless of the current status (past_due or grace).

How to avoid payment issues

  • Ensure the card has sufficient funds 1--2 days before the charge date
  • The next charge date is displayed in Settings -> Billing
  • Enable Telegram notifications so you don't miss a warning
  • Consider annual billing -- it reduces the risk of a missed payment and gives a 20% discount

Frequently asked questions

Will my data be deleted if I don't pay on time?
No. tikento never deletes data due to non-payment. Objects exceeding Free plan limits are marked as archived and automatically restored when you return to a paid plan.
How much time do I have after a failed charge?
10 days. The first 3 days (past_due) -- the platform works without restrictions, the system tries to charge payment 3 times. Then 7 days (grace) -- features are limited. After 10 days -- automatic downgrade to Free.
Can I update my card during the grace period?
Yes. Go to Settings -> Billing -> Update payment method. After a successful charge, all restrictions are lifted immediately.
