How the QR code is generated
When a participant completes registration and their status transitions to registered, the system automatically creates a ticket instance (TicketInstance) with a unique QR code.
The QR code contains an encrypted ticket identifier. The code is unique to each ticket and cannot be forged or guessed.
When the QR code becomes available
- Free event — immediately after registration
- Paid event — after payment confirmation
- With moderation — after organizer approval (and payment, if the event is paid)
Until the QR code is generated, the participant sees a message about the current status of their registration.
Where the participant finds their QR code
The participant receives the QR code in several ways:
- Email — the confirmation email includes the QR code and a link to the PDF ticket
- Personal account — in the "My Tickets" section on the tikento website
- Telegram — if the participant registered through the Mini App, the QR code is available in the bot chat
PDF ticket
The participant can download a PDF version of the ticket from the confirmation email or from their personal account. The PDF contains:
- QR code for entrance
- Event name
- Date, time, and venue
- Ticket type and selected options
- Participant name
On Pro and higher plans, the organizer can customize the PDF ticket design: add a logo, change colors, and include additional information.
Entrance verification (check-in)
Scanning the QR code
- Open the tikento app on your phone.
- Go to the event -> "Check-in" (or click the scanner button in the participant list).
- Point the camera at the participant's QR code.
- The system will show the result:
- Green — the ticket is valid, the participant is checked in
- Red — the ticket has already been used, is invalid, or not found
On a successful scan, the screen displays the participant's name, ticket type, and selected options. This helps the entrance team quickly identify the participant.
Duplicate scan protection
Each QR code can only be scanned once. On a repeated scan, the system shows:
- A warning that the ticket has already been used
- The time of the first check-in
- The name of the participant the ticket belongs to
This prevents sharing the QR code with others after entry.
Manual check-in
If the participant cannot present a QR code (forgot their phone, battery died), the organizer performs the check manually:
- Open the participant list in the app.
- Find the participant by name or email.
- Click "Mark entry" on their card.
Offline mode
QR code verification works without internet. During the last sync, the app downloads the current ticket list into the local database. Scan results are saved locally and sent to the server when the network becomes available.

Cancellation and refund
When a registration is cancelled or a payment is refunded, the QR code is automatically deactivated. If a participant tries to enter with a voided ticket, the system will show an appropriate warning during scanning.
