Apple Pay and Google Pay

Overview

Apple Pay and Google Pay allow attendees to pay for tickets with one tap or glance (Face ID), without entering card details. The method works through your connected payment gateway — no separate setup is needed.

Benefits:

  • Payment in 2-3 seconds instead of typing 16 card digits
  • Increased payment conversion by 10-25% (according to payment system data)
  • Security: actual card data is not transmitted — a token is used instead

Setup

Requirements

For Apple Pay and Google Pay to work, you need a connected payment gateway that supports these methods:

GatewayApple PayGoogle Pay
YooKassaYesYes
Tochka BankYesYes

Checking Availability

  1. Open Settings → Payments and select the connected gateway.
  2. In the "Payment methods" section, make sure the Apple Pay and Google Pay toggles are enabled.
  3. If the toggles are unavailable, check the settings in your gateway's dashboard — these methods may need to be activated there.

No additional configuration is required on the tikento side. If the gateway supports Apple Pay / Google Pay and the methods are activated, payment buttons will automatically appear in the registration form.

What Payment Looks Like for the Attendee

In the Registration Form (PWA)

  1. The attendee fills out the form and clicks "Pay".
  2. On the payment page, in addition to the card entry form, an Apple Pay or Google Pay button is displayed (depending on the device).
  3. The attendee taps the button and confirms payment with biometrics (Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint).
  4. Payment is processed instantly, and the attendee receives registration confirmation.

In the Embed Widget

In the embed widget on an external site, Apple Pay and Google Pay buttons are displayed exactly the same as in the PWA. The widget automatically detects the device and shows the appropriate button.

Security

Apple Pay and Google Pay do not transmit the actual card number to the merchant. Instead, tokenization is used:

  • When a card is added to the wallet, a unique device token is created
  • For each payment, a one-time cryptographic code is generated
  • Even if transaction data is intercepted, it cannot be reused

For organizers, this means lower risk of fraud and chargebacks.

Common Questions

Why Doesn't the Attendee See the Apple Pay Button?

Possible reasons:

  • The device does not support Apple Pay (older model without NFC/Touch ID)
  • The browser is not Safari (on iOS, Apple Pay works only in Safari)
  • No card has been added to Apple Wallet
  • The payment gateway does not support or has not activated Apple Pay

Why Doesn't the Attendee See the Google Pay Button?

Possible reasons:

  • The browser is not Chrome or is an outdated version
  • No cards have been added to the Google account
  • The payment gateway does not support Google Pay

In both cases, the attendee can pay using the standard method — by entering card details.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to set up Apple Pay and Google Pay separately?
No. If your payment gateway (YooKassa or Tochka) supports these methods, they automatically become available to attendees. No separate contract or configuration is needed.
Can an Android user pay with Apple Pay?
No. Apple Pay is only available on Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, Mac with Touch ID/Face ID). Android users will see the Google Pay button.
Is there an additional fee for Apple Pay / Google Pay?
No. The fee is the same as for a regular card payment — determined by your contract with the gateway. Apple and Google do not charge an additional fee to merchants.
Does Apple Pay work in Telegram Mini App?
In Telegram Mini App, payment via Telegram Stars is available. For card payments (including Apple Pay and Google Pay), the attendee can switch to the web version of the registration form.
