Resetting a forgotten password

If you forgot your password and can't sign in, use the reset function.

Via link (magic link)

1. Open app.tikento.com and click "Sign in".
2. On the sign-in page, click "Forgot password?".
3. Enter the email linked to your account and click "Send link".
4. Open the email from tikento and follow the link.
5. On the page that opens, enter a new password twice and click "Save".

The link is valid for 24 hours and is single-use — it stops working after you use it.

Via 6-digit code

In some cases, the email will contain a 6-digit verification code instead of (or in addition to) a link.

1. On the reset page, enter your email and click "Send code".
2. Enter the 6 digits from the email into the on-screen field.
3. Set a new password.

The code is valid for 15 minutes. If it expires, request a new one.

Changing your current password

If you know your current password and want to change it:

1. Sign in to tikento.
2. Open Profile settings > Security.
3. In the "Password" section, click "Change password".
4. Enter your current password.
5. Enter the new password twice (minimum 8 characters).
6. Click "Save".

After changing your password, all active sessions except the current one are terminated automatically. You'll need to sign in again on other devices.

Password requirements

• Minimum 8 characters.
• No strict requirements for character types, but using letters, numbers, and special characters is recommended.
• The password is stored as a bcrypt hash — tikento never knows your password in plain text.

Brute-force protection

After 10 failed sign-in attempts from the same IP address within one minute, further attempts are blocked. This protects your account from automated password guessing. Wait a few minutes and try again, or reset your password via the link.

If email sign-in is not configured

Password reset only works for accounts with email sign-in. If you registered via Google, Yandex, VK, or Telegram, no password is set in tikento.

To add email and password to your account:

1. Sign in via your current OAuth provider.
2. Open Settings > Sign-in methods.
3. In the "Email and password" section, click "Link".
4. Enter an email and set a password.
5. Confirm the email via the link in the message.
